From Africa’s largest travel exhibition to the world’s most beautiful marathon, the ultimate popular culture festival as well as soccer and rugby action, the Mother City’s events calendar is chock-a-block full of things to see and do this April.

Waterfront Canal Challenge
Kickstarting the month, the Waterfront Canal Challenge will see some of the best swimmers take on the 1 600m and 800m open water swimming session from 9am to 1pm today.

European Rugby Championship Cup
Additionally, the DHL Stormers will be looking to advance to the quarterfinals of the European Rugby Championship Cup when they meet defending champions La Rochelle at the DHL Stadium later today.
Kick-off is at 4pm and tickets are available at Ticketpro.
Spectators can take a free MyCiTi shuttle from the Civic Centre to the stadium.
DSTV Premiership 2324 CTC
Come Sunday, the DHL Stadium will turn its attention to local soccer action when Cape Town City hosts KwaZulu-Natal side Amazulu in the DSTV Premiership at 3pm.

SA United Chistmas Band Road March
Also on Sunday, the South Africa United Christmas Band’s Board is hosting the SA United Christmas Band Road March at the Westridge Gardens in Mitchell’s Plain.

DSTV Premiership clash
All roads will lead to the Athlone Stadium on Tuesday, 9 April, where a DSTV Premiership clash between Cape Town Spurs and Mamelodi Sundowns will be hosted.

World Travel Market Africa
World Travel Market (WTM) Africa is set to return to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 10 to 12 April.
WTM Africa brings together more than 7 000 delegates from over 100 countries, including tourism industry professionals, exhibitors, buyers and media , who are currently in Cape Town for three days of trade, networking and deal-making.

Abdullah Ibrahim
Cape Town’s very own music maestro Abdullah Ibrahim will bring a special homecoming performance to the iconic City Hall on Friday, 12 April, as part of a series of landmark concerts in South Africa this month.

The historic even makes Ibrahim the first solo artist in history to perform such a concert, supported by his six-piece Ekaya band and with a specially created choir.

Two Oceans Marathon
The 53rd Two Oceans Marathon will take over the Cape Peninsula for ultra marathons and half marathons on 13 and 14 April, starting off in Newlands for a finish at UCT.

- Freedom Paddle: 27 April from V&A Waterfront to Robben Island
- Stormers vs Leinster: 27 April at DHL Stadium
