Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) is gearing up for a hectic school holiday period as schools shut down from 20 March to 2 April 2024.
Even though folks can still enjoy the epic journey up Table Mountain via cable car, there are a few key things to keep in mind.

Due to ongoing rehabilitation work on Tafelberg Road, access to the Lower Station via this route will be restricted, and parking availability will be severely limited.
To alleviate congestion, the Cableway will provide complimentary shuttle services during the school holidays, departing from the Kloof Nek parking area and the Platteklip Gorge parking area, bound for the Lower Station.
Visitors are advised to use public transport options such as buses and Uber to get to the foot of Tafelberg Road.
The cable cars will operate according to their regular hours, with the last ascent at 6:30pm and the final descent at 7:30pm every day, subject to weather conditions.
Check the TMACC’s website at tablemountain.net to confirm their operational status for the day before your visit.
To minimize waiting times on busy days, visitors are encouraged to buy their tickets online in advance. This will streamline the entry process.
In the event of the Cableway’s closure due to weather conditions, your online ticket will remain valid for seven days. Alternatively, you can reschedule your visit for another day or request a refund if you’re unable to make it.
Furthermore, kids are welcome to enjoy complimentary activity books handed out by Cableway staff. Renowned MC Hilton Carlse will also be present to entertain and offer valuable insights to visitors.

The Cableway has also arranged some exciting activities for Easter, which coincides with the school holidays. An online Easter Egg hunt will take place from 20 to 27 March 2024.
For the chance to win a custom Easter chocolate hamper from Afrikoa and two Fast Track Cableway tickets, participants can hunt for a virtual golden egg online. Afrikoa is a premium local chocolate maker based in Cape Town.
Cableway visitors can look forward to an on-site Easter Egg hunt for the kids. On Easter Sunday (31 March) from 10am to 2pm, kids at the Top Station will receive clues for an interactive egg hunt around the summit area.
In the event of adverse weather conditions causing the Cableway’s closure on Easter Sunday, the on-site egg hunt will be rescheduled for Easter Monday (1 April).
With some planning and patience, TMACC is sure to provide local and international visitors with an egg-citing and unforgettable school holiday experience.
