In Cape Town, we’re all about good food, great drinks, amazing attractions, homely accommodation and iconic culture. And one of the Cape’s most legendary hotels offers this in spades: The Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel.
From its humble beginnings in 1895 under the guise of Hotel Metropole to its luxurious and unique facade today, the Grand Daddy is a hotel where guests come to stay – and play! The recent upgrade of the hotel’s facilities has made it even more of a gem for Capetonians, who regularly head to its Pink Flamingo Rooftop Cinema and Sky Bar for movies beneath the stars and drinks with a view, respectively.
Whether you’re an out-of-towner or a local, the Grand Daddy offers the perfect location from which to enjoy a chic city escape. The newly renovated, and aptly named, Luxury Rooms have all the trimmings of a five-star luxury hotel while the suites – choose between the Sugar Daddy and Grand Daddy – each sport a private Juliet balcony, king-sized bed, open-plan living and bedroom area, marble bathrooms, French linen, Wifi and other amenities.
If you’re in the mood for something a little more unique, the hotel offers slick rooftop accommodation in the form of their Airstream Trailer Rooftop Park. Each airstream trailer is themed and right on the doorstep of the Pink Flamingo Rooftop Cinema and Sky Bar so you’ll never miss a good movie – or drink!
Hotel guests are also treated to a scrumptious breakfast from the renovated restaurant, now named Thirty Ate Eatery. Choose from a selection of hot breakfasts or indulge in a Continental offering. Thirty Ate is also open daily for lunch and from Mondays to Saturday for dinner, while room service from the restaurant can be requested during its operating hours.
A stay at the Grand Daddy is so good, you – like us – won’t want to leave!
