Prisoners will now be next in line to receive their COVID-19 vaccine. The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) has indicated that it wants to prioritise the vaccination of officials and inmates before outbreaks at correctional facilities spread to communities around the country.
According to IOL, the Minister of Justice and Correctional Services Ronald Lamola and Acting Minister of Health Mmamoloko Kubayi will launch the vaccination roll-out program in Johannesburg on Tuesday, July 20.

Correctional service officials around the country have already been vaccinated under the second phase of the vaccination roll-out program, as they form part of the essential workers, News 24 reported.
