A 35-year-old man has been charged with murder and is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s court on Monday, 28 March.
According to provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Novela Potelwa, as part of SAPS’s ongoing investigations into the recent multiple murders in Khayelitsha, organised crime detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with an incident where six people were shot and killed in the Enkanini informal settlement earlier this month.
” Two women and four men between the ages of 18 and 27 were allegedly shot dead by three gunmen in Lindela Road on Sunday,” Potelwa said.
Potelwa went on to say that as the police’s investigation gains momentum the detectives assigned to the case have their sights set on specific leads with more arrests imminent.
Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Community Safety, Anroux Marais has also welcomed Police Minister Bheki Cele’s commitment to increase SAPS support in the area to bring calm, increase safety and ensure the suspects are brought to book and fully investigated for these heinous crimes.
