Caracals have been flooding our social media feeds lately with their regal persona and long tufted ears. These elusive wild cats are truly a sight to behold, and whenever we get word that one is roaming around in Cape Town, we jump at the opportunity to share our joy with our Cape {town} Etc family.
This was seen after adorable caracal kittens were roaming about at Kirstenbosch Gardens while another was spotted strolling about Lion’s Head.
To our excitement, this curious caracal came out to play at Jordan Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, and the snaps left us completely mesmerised!
The majestic animal can be seen moving closer and closer, a real detective if you will! And it’s probably the best sight you’ll witness all day.
Jordan Wine Estate is a slice of paradise that boasts rolling hills, lush greenery and breathtaking views, so it comes as no surprise that our caracal friend chose this stunning location to explore.
And if you happen to spot a caracal in Cape Town, please remain at a distance so as not to disturb the cats or get in the way of their movements. They enjoy their space (social distancing is still in full effect after all), so rather stand back and simply enjoy the sighting of this incredible species.
“Do my eyes deceive me? Am I on camera?”
“Looking around to see if I’m going to be Shucksed“.
“It looks like the coast is clear. Time to go in for my close up”.
“Trying to figure out which side is my good side”.
“Seems like my face is perfect from all angles!”
