The Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K will be held for the ninth time on Sunday, 12 May, starting in Milnerton. The race has a loaded field of elite African athletes.

Some of Africa’s top road running athletes are in Cape Town for the ninth annual Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K.
Kenya’s Vincent Langat, South African 10km record holder Precious Mashele, South African cross country champion Kabelo Mulaudzi, three-time Olympian Stephen Mokoka, and two-time Olympian Elroy Gelant will compete in Johannesburg.
Kenya’s Diana Chepkorir, five-time national champion Irvette van Zyl, Lesotho Olympian Neheng Khatala, and long distance runner Cacisile Sosibo will lead a stacked elite women’s field on Sunday.
The elite runners will be among the 12 000 runners who will complete the 10-kilometre route from Milnerton to the CBD.
‘It is wonderful to welcome some of the best African runners to the Mother City for a race that has become one of the country’s most loved road running events,’ said the City’s mayoral committee member for safety and security, JP Smith.
‘The Absa Run Your City Cape Town 10K event forms part of our broader goals to transform Cape Town into one of the world’s preferred runner’s destinations. The City of Cape Town’s support for this event over the last 10 years and sponsorship of other running events hosted in Cape Town is aimed at not only providing support to the sport, but to ensure all those who love running, whether for professional or recreation purposes, have platforms to express themselves here in the Mother City. We wish all the athletes a smooth race as they strive to achieve their personal best and encourage them to enjoy all the views the Mother City has on offer.’

Road closures and route
Starting at 9am on Woodbridge Island in Milnerton, the route takes runners along the coastline with unobstructed views of Table Mountain before looping onto the N1 to the bustling City Bowl for the finish in Lower Long Street.
On race day, Cape Town’s streets not only become an arena for the runners but also a hub of entertainment, with epic performances and all-around good vibes along the way.
To accommodate the race’s festivities, several roads will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Motorists are advised to plan their trips around the temporary road closures that will be in place over the weekend.

Park and ride
A MyCiTi shuttle service will transport runners from the Grand Parade to the start in Milnerton.
The first bus will leave from the Grand Parade at 5:30am. The last bus departs the Grand Parade for Milnerton at 7:40am.
Parking is available along the Grand Parade and surrounding areas.
Participants are encouraged to park their vehicles and walk to the Grand Parade, where they will board MyCiTi buses to the starting point at Woodbridge Island in Milnerton.
