The bakkie suffered damage to both its rear and front ends, while the trailer has been reported to be ‘extensively damaged’.
‘We are still awaiting details on the outcomes of the investigation into the cause of the incident,’ said Vinello-Lippert.
Western Cape traffic authorities were able to redirect traffic via the alternative route as emergency response and tunnel maintenance teams ‘retrieved the wreckage and cleared all debris’.
No injuries were reported.
