The Mdzananda Animal Clinic has announced that its 2023 Paws on the Promenade event has been postponed due to a technical hitch with the venue.
This coming Sunday, Khayelitsha’s animal clinic and Vondi’s Holistic Pet Nutrition were planning to host the sixth Paws on the Promenade event, which would have featured over 300 paws strutting their stuff on the Sea Point Promenade.

‘It is with heavy hearts that we announce the postponement of our Paws on the Promenade dog walk fundraiser due to a technical hitch with the venue,’ said Mdzananda’s fundraising and communications executive and event organiser, Marcelle du Plessis.
This Sunday’s event would have marked the return of the annual fundraiser after a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus. Paws on the Promenade was first launched in 2016 and has since celebrated five ‘pawesome’ years of furry friends and animal lovers enjoying a morning walk together to make a difference in the lives of animals in need.
‘While this is quite sad news, we are keeping high spirits and are already planning to bring this experience back to you in the new year. We’ve had a phenomenal amount of support for our dog walk fundraiser from you and have no doubt that this will stay the same as it has throughout the years,’ added du Plessis in a statement.
The animal clinic announced that the dog walk fundraiser will return to the Mouille Point Lighthouse in March next year, with a date and further details to be shared closer to the time.

‘With this postponement comes the opportunity to make our dog walk fundraiser an experience that is bigger and better,’ said du Plessis. ‘We’re excited for what’s to come.’
Those who have already purchased tickets can expect their tickets to be transferred to next year’s event. Additionally, ticket holders can redeem a free goodie bag, courtesy of Vondi’s Holistic Pet Nutrition, by visiting the store on Saturday, 28 October, at 59 Regent Road, Sea Point and showing them the purchased ticket.
For refunds, ticket holders should follow the instructions that have been emailed to them from Quicket.
‘Please accept our apologies following this postponement and any inconvenience caused,’ expressed Mdzananda Animal Clinic. ‘We truly appreciate your constant support and thank you for always showing up for us.’
