The Tanqua Kuru Bicycle Race is a two-day gravel biking experience in the Tankwa Karoo, spanning 170 kilometres. Set for 24 to 26 May 2024, this race is a test of endurance and spirit, welcoming a diverse group of cycling enthusiasts.
The race was established by Jeremy Crowder in 2021 and is designed to transcend the norms of traditional biking events.

The race features two options on the first day: a challenging 130km route or a shorter 55km path. The second day is the same route for all entries and is a 55-kilometre ride through the park.
The route is interspersed with unexpected installations like beach setups and pop-up energy stations stocked with fresh goods, allowing time for rest and enjoyment.
What distinguishes Tanqua Kuru is its focus on the overall experience, not solely on performance. Post-race, riders can relax in comfortable tents fitted with beds, linen, duvets, lights, electric blankets, hot-water showers and flushing toilets.
