British long-distance runner and former British Army Captain Tom Evans was assaulted and robbed at the end of Table Mountain road while training for a trail running race set to take place next week.
According to community Facebook group Hiking Cape Town, the mugging was reported earlier today at around 2pm.

One person on social media, who found and assisted Evans, claimed that he was running up from the university onto Table Mountain road when he was attacked by two unknown males.
Evans sustained minor injuries. The perpetrators, both carrying knives, robbed him of his cell phone and cut off his wedding ring before running back towards the university.
Table Mountain rangers have been notified.
Evans reportedly travelled to Cape Town to take part in the RMB Ultra-trail Cape Town set to take place on Friday, 24 November, next week.
