Recent statistics have revealed South Africa’s top 10 crime hotspots. Norman Sekhukhune, police head of crime research and statistics, has disclosed his findings.
The Western Cape has taken the number one spot, with four of the top 10 police stations being located here.
Sekhukhune delivered the report in Parliament on Friday, where he explained that Cape Town Central police station was number one, with 3274 crimes reported in the second quarter of 2023.

In the second quarter of 2022, 2887 crimes were reported, marking a 13.4% increase since last year.
Mitchells Plain is in the third spot, just after Durban Central.
Sekhukhune said that between July and September of this year, 2291 crimes were reported in Mitchells Plain. This is an increase of 8.1% from last year’s 2119.
Stellenbosch also saw a rise in crime, as this year’s reported number sat at 1847 compared to last year’s 1692. In addition to that, crime in Delft is spiking too, with an increase of 16.8% from last year’s reported crimes.
