A Cape Town man was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the Wynberg Regional Court after he was found guilty on charges relating to child pornography. This was a massive feat for The Green Hearts community, who took to Facebook to express their thoughts. They are passionate about creating awareness on Child Abuse and are committed to fighting for the rights of children.
As reported by IOL, Fish Hoek resident Clinton Calder was convicted of 3 195 counts of possession of child pornography – a count of distribution of pornography, a count of importing pornography and a count of creating child pornography. Calder was arrested in 2015, but his criminal activities started in 2014.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) indicated that that Calder was allegedly part of an international child pornography ring, and was in possession of 3 215 images of child abuse, IOL adds.
Meanwhile, a Western Cape farmer was also arrested earlier this year for the alleged possession of child pornography. The 48-year-old man was arrested during a joint operation by SAPS and officers from the US Department of Homeland Security at the US Embassy, News 24 reports.
