Incident reports to the PECC
The Public Emergency Communication Centre (PECC) reported handling 1 867 incidents over the past weekend.
These included 99 fires, 94 assault cases, 31 domestic violence incidents and 44 road accidents.
Cape Town’s mayoral committee member for safety and security, Alderman JP Smith, praised the enforcement officers’ commitment and adaptability in facing the challenges of their duties.
‘Our enforcement services deal with a lot on a daily basis, and these latest successes show once again the amount of effort and commitment that goes into their jobs. Not only do they put their lives on the line, as we saw in the latest example in Mfuleni, which also led to the recovery of prohibited firearms and ammunition, but drug dealers too are becoming increasingly crafty at hiding their stashes, from toilet bowls to ceilings, inside stoves and now even vacuum cleaners. However, our staff are up to the task, as the confiscations in the last week have shown, and we commend them for it,’ he said.
Residents are reminded to report any criminal activities or emergencies.
The emergency contact numbers are 021 480 7700 for cell phones and 107 for landline calls.
