Following Eskom’s power alert that loadshedding will remain at stage 6 until further notice, the City of Cape Town has announced its loadshedding forecast for the next two days.
City customers can expected a repeating pattern of loadshedding, alternating between stages 5, 4 and 6 from today until 6am on Thursday.

- Stage 4: 4pm to 8pm
- Stage 6: 8pm to 6am
Tuesday, 18 April

- Stage 4: 4pm to 8pm
- stage 6: 8pm to 6am
Wednesday, 19 April
- Stage 5: 6am to 4pm
- Stage 4: 4pm to 8pm
- Stage 6: 8pm to 6am
In its announcement, the City also noted that due to the current volatility of Eskom’s generating capacity and breakdowns, this forecast is subject to rapid change.
On Sunday, the embattled power utility stated that breakdowns were currently at 17 481 MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance was at 5 657 MW.
As a result of a shortage of generation capacity, and planned repairs and delays in returning generating units at a number of power stations, the implementation of stage 6 will continue until further notice.
