Residents across the metro are encouraged to continue reducing their water usage until the Blackheath Water Treatment plant’s water production has been restored fully.
According to the City of Cape Town, phase one involved the repairs to a leak at the Plant which has now been completed.
Phase two of the work, which includes routine maintenance, was also scheduled for this week but has been postponed to a later date. The City says that the water supply from elsewhere in the bulk water network was rerouted to the Blackheath water supply areas during phase one.
In addition, the City of Cape Town urges consumers across the city to kindly continue reducing their water usage considerably during this period to maintain available water supply and pressure in the water supply network and reservoirs until the drinking water production level at the Plant has been restored fully.
The Stellenbosch Municipality has also been informed to make the relevant arrangements to revert the Blackheath water supply for their areas.
The City sincerely regrets the inconvenience caused and appreciates residents’ cooperation as it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
