Update:
The fire has been contained as crews prevented the fire from crossing the ridge and spreading further.
With the wind conditions remaining unfavourable, the spotter plane and helicopters remain airborne.
Crews have responded to a wildfire in Upper Tokai in an area that is very high risk – just below the Elephant’s Eye Cave.
The risk comes due to the hundreds of tons of uncleared slash from years of invasive clearing activity in the area.
