Brackenfell has been struggling with an increase in drug dealing at De Oude Spruit dam in Protea Heights.
As reported by TygerBurger on News24, illegal activities have ‘been reported to the City’s law enforcement and police numerous times, but no arrests have been made’.

Needles have reportedly been found around the area, and ‘suspicious behaviour’ has been witnessed by residents of the neighbourhood.
Adding to these concerns is the suspected dealing of drugs to youths in the area.
Spokesperson for the residents action group, Lea-Anne Steyn, told TygerBurger that she suspects a man in the park by the dam is dealing drugs, with activities including meeting buyers, leaving parcels and attracting unwanted behaviour.
‘We have found heaps of used needles, and drugs are regularly changing hands in the open. Burglaries have increased and residents have had enough,’ adds Carla Lourens, director of C-Max Security.
‘It is going to turn ugly soon. As a security company we can only do that much,’ she said.
Lourens also pointed out that illegal activities at the dam are getting worse and are ‘posing a danger to especially the children who do still come out to the park’.
Cape {town} Etc reached out to the Brackenfell SAPS for comments, but at the time of publication, they were not available.
