A 34-year-old woman was arrested while she was trying to dispose of a pistol that could be linked to the shooting of a 13-year-old boy in Manenberg earlier this week.

Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie says members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) apprehended the woman on Thursday in McCrawl Street. ‘Upon entering the premises, members spotted a female rushing to the back of the residence with an object in her hand, which was later identified as a 9mm CZ pistol with a fully loaded magazine with 15 rounds. The members in pursuit reached her just in time, before she could dispose of the firearm, and arrested her.’
The firearm and ammunition were confiscated as evidence, and the woman now faces a charge of possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition, according to IOL.
‘The possibility that this firearm can be linked to the shooting of the 13-year-old forms part of the investigation.’
