In what appears to be a gang-related hit, former Americans gang boss, Kaldimola “Dimes” Madatt, died in a hail of bullets on Sunday.
He was shot 11 times while his bodyguard was also injured in the incident.

The deceased was the brother of convicted drug dealer and diamond smuggler, Moegamat Sadaka Madatt, an alleged Americans gang boss.
Shortly after the death of his daughter in 2020, “Dimes,” a self-confessed former drug dealer, claimed to have turned his life around a decade earlier.
On Sunday, IOL sources said that the two had left a house in Rocklands, Mitchells Plain, after the deceased apparently received a call warning him that people were on their way to kill him.
The source claimed that a white Toyota Etios and a red bakkie pulled up at the house as the two were leaving before as many as seven gunmen opened fire.
Madatt was hit nearly a dozen times and died on the scene.
His bodyguard survived the attack and was taken away by law enforcement.
Reports state that the source believes that Madatt’s assassination was an “internal hit,” as he was supposed to have been “taken out” by American gang hitmen last week already before the mission was aborted.
Following yesterday’s shooting, an unnamed resident told the Daily Voice that the community remained tense as retaliation shootings were expected.
“A lot of people from all over came to the crime scene but the area is now very volatile and the police have also already shut down all the taverns so that people don’t come in and out,” he says.
Meanwhile, SAPS spokesperson, Joseph Swartbooi, confirmed that Mitchells Plain police responded to the complaint on Sunday.
“Upon arrival in Monsoon Road at around 12.45pm, they found the body of a 56-year-old male who sustained multiple gunshot wounds,” said Swartbooi. “The unknown suspects are yet to be arrested.”
“The motive for the attack is gang-related. Mitchells Plain police are investigating a case of murder.”
