Motorists are urged to be extra cautious around vehicle safety this festive season, especially around the Newlands Forest and Kirstenbosch areas.

“Please be advised that reports indicate that theft of motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicles parked along the M3 and at the Newlands Forest parking area have increased,” Parkscape said on Facebook.

Cars parked at Kirstenbosch have also been impacted.

“It is quite clear that across the board opportunistic crime is on the increase,” they added.

Always make sure your car is locked and windows closed, parked in a secure spot and that no valuables are visible on the inside. Do not leave vehicles parked in these areas at night or when no security is on duty.

Report any incidents to the police and relevant authorities immediately.
