The police have launched an investigation into the death of an 8-year-old boy who was discovered lifeless in the bed of a friend during a sleepover.

According to information obtained by the Weekend Argus, the incident occurred on the evening of 15 June in Kraaifontein.
The authorities are currently awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination in order to determine the cause of death.
No signs of foul play have been indicated by the police at this stage.
Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi, the police spokesperson, provided the Weekend Argus with details regarding the case.
Officer Swartbooi stated, ‘Kraaifontein police received a complaint shortly before midnight on June 15. Upon arriving at the scene, they found the body of a young boy. The victim was declared dead on the scene by medical personnel. An autopsy will be conducted to confirm the cause of death.’
A community worker, who chose to remain anonymous out of respect for the sensitivity of the matter, disclosed that the bed sheets were collected as evidence for the inquest. It was also revealed that the child had sent a text message to a relative, bidding them ‘good night’ prior to the tragic incident.
