National Lottery first creates three multimillionaires with Powerball Xtra
The historic draw took place after no player matched all five numbers and the PowerBall in the latest PowerBall Xtra jackpot. Instead of rolling over again, the estimated R139 million jackpot automatically cascaded to the next winning division, producing three winners in a National Lottery first.
3 winners. R45,733,457 each.
On Tuesday, 30 June 2026 (Draw 1733), the PowerBall Xtra Cascading Jackpot created 3 multi-millionaires after the jackpot cascaded to the next winning division.

According to National Lottery operator Sizekhaya, the winning tickets were purchased at Checkers Hyper in New Market, Alberton, as well as through the Standard Bank and FNB banking apps.
‘This is a landmark moment for the National Lottery and a wonderful day for three South Africans whose lives have changed forever,’ said Fundi Sithebe, Chief Operating Officer of Sizekhaya told Daily Maverick.
Sithebe added: ‘Instead of another rollover, the jackpot found three homes.’
The new cascading jackpot system was introduced when Sizekhaya took over operation of the National Lottery on 1 June. Under the format, if the PowerBall Xtra jackpot is not won after three consecutive rollovers, it automatically moves to the next winning division, guaranteeing that the prize is paid out.
The winning numbers for the PowerBall Xtra draw were 8, 14, 16, 25, 44 and PowerBall 15.
On social media, many lottery players congratulated the winners while others joked that they were already checking forgotten tickets and banking apps. Sizekhaya also reminded players that winners have 365 days from the draw date to claim their prizes.
