The motive behind the protest has not yet been established, but the closures are already affecting key routes used by motorists travelling between Cape Town and surrounding areas.
According to the latest traffic information, motorists should take note of the following closures:
- N2 outbound is closed.
- All traffic is being diverted onto the R300 towards Bellville.
- N2 inbound is closed at Spine Road.
- N2 inbound is also closed at Mew Way.
- R300 southbound is closed at Hindle Road.
- R300 northbound is closed at the ramp to the N2.

The closures are likely to have a knock-on effect on surrounding roads as motorists look for alternative routes.
Motorists should also avoid attempting to bypass roadblocks or enter closed sections of road, particularly while the situation remains unclear.
At this stage, the reason for the protest has not been confirmed.
This is a developing story and further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
