Eskom said in a statement released on Sunday, November 7 that “events” over the last two days have required extensive use of emergency reserves and have hampered the recovery of the dam levels at the pumped storage power stations, depleting already low diesel levels.
According to spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha, a major incident occurred in Zambia on Saturday that has affected the entire Southern African power pool. Power imported from Cahora Bassa was reduced by 1 000 M, while a Tutuka generator also tripped.
