Cape Town police have launched a manhunt for the suspects involved in a shooting incident, where three people were killed and two wounded in Crossroads, Philippi on Saturday, September 18.
According to police spokesperson, Novela Potelwa, it’s alleged that suspects in a minibus taxi fired several shots at four men.
“Three men died on the scene while a fourth was wounded. A woman in her 30’s who was standing outside her home was wounded when she was hit by a stray bullet,” Potelwa indicated.
Potelwa added that while police are probing the motive for the shooting, it has been identified that the victims are between the ages of 25 and 33 years old. No arrests have been made as yet.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the city, some Capetonians took to the Sea Point promenade on Saturday to protest against the national vaccine rollout programme. The group, globally labelled “anti-vaxxers”, feel unfairly pressured to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
The protest also follows President Cyril Ramaphosa’s ‘family meeting’ which took place on September 12, where he spent the duration of the address emphasising the importance of getting the vaccine.
