The fire, which started yesterday afternoon at approximately 2pm, has ‘burned away from the N1’, into the higher cliffs of the mountain, during the day.
Fire and ground crews have continued with active fire fighting as the fire line becomes accessible and will stay on the scene throughout the night, with 5 firefighting vehicles and 4 ground teams from the NCC Wildfires and CapeNature currently at the scene.
All roads are open, and traffic is still free-flowing, with the CWDM stating that motorists should ‘take note that there are fire vehicles moving on the shoulder of the road’.
The CWDM has stated it will post updates on the ongoing fire.
