Camps Bay is more than a destination; it’s a lifestyle. The beach embodies the epitome of Cape Town’s allure and the promenade buzzes with activity. From culinary delights to a thriving arts scene, Camps Bay offers a taste of coastal luxury.
Here are five things to do in Camps Bay.
1. Theatre on The Bay
A mere 10-minute drive from the centre of Cape Town, Theatre on The Bay offers patrons a theatrical experience like no other. Surrounded by stunning beaches, hotels, nightclubs and bars, the 264-seater venue features productions for all ages. It was established by South African producer and theatre manager Pieter Toerien during the 1980s and has played host to a myriad of world-class entertainment.

2. Hike Kasteelspoort
The Kasteelspoort route features amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean and Camps Bay. Climbing up the Twelve Apostles side of Table Mountain will offer a less congested route, and the entire hike can take between two to four hours depending on your pace. If you’re looking to make a day of it, start with the Pipe Track from Kloof Nek, which could add between 45 minutes to an hour to your hike. Alternatively, park on Theresa Road and walk up the Jeep Track to the Pipe Track, then take a left to get to the Kasteelspoort turn-off.

Camps Bay Beach is voted the number one spot for diners, shoppers, sun worshippers and swimmers under Tripadvisor’s Camps Bay recommendations. Several restaurants line the coast of the beach, which is known for its stunning sunsets.
4. View contemporary South African art at Studio G
The flagship gallery of The Bay Hotel, Studio G works in partnership with hospitality and tourism group Village N Life to provide a unique platform for established and emerging local artists to exhibit their work. The contemporary South African art featured at the gallery, which includes hand-crafted tables and functional art, is a must-see for art lovers and collectors.
