The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) has confirmed that it will resume its investigation into the shooting incident that took place at a lodge in Muldersdrift where a Pretoria gym owner, Len Cloete, was shot in the head by a police officer.
In a video of the incident that went viral on social media, Cloete was seen shouting at police and then disarming a police officer when another officer cop fired a single shot that hit Cloete in the head. He was then in a coma for several weeks, however, reports emerged on Friday, December 17 indicating that Cloete have regained consciousness.

According to IPID spokesperson Grace Langa, Cloete is able to breathe on his own and does open his eyes a little. Langa said IPID will get advice and instruction on the right time to speak with Cloete and collect his statement from the doctors.
“We are not able to interview him at this stage. We will await a point of recovery where he can be able to explain and recall what happened on the day of the incident at the right time.
“We do not want to put pressure as whatever he says will be under oath and will be used in the court of law so we need to be patient with his journey to recovery,” Langa explained.
