The body of 11-year-old Monneashia Prins was found in a canal near Ithemba Farms on Saturday.

Monneashia, who was last seen on Friday in the Blue Downs and Eerste River area wearing a grey school uniform and a pink hoodie, was reported missing on Sunday, 11 February, according to police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg.
Following her disappearance, Spurwing Primary School appealed for community assistance, and search parties were organized, as reported by IOL.
On Saturday, Monneashia’s body, covered in mud, was discovered. Medical personnel declared her deceased at the scene, and a post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death. At the time of her discovery, her identity remained unknown.
‘It was established that the body found was that of the child reported missing. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation,’ says Twigg.
