In its latest update, the Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) said its Fire Services, in collaboration with CapeNature and contracted ground teams, are actively engaging in battling several fires across its district.

Du Toits Kloof Lodge:
The municipality reported that efforts to combat the Du Toits Kloof fire, which broke out on Tuesday afternoon, continue. With two of the three fire lines now contained, significant progress has been achieved.
‘Currently, three firefighting vehicles and crew, along with ground teams, are diligently addressing the remaining active fire line,’ said CWDM.
Lorainne Farm, Rawsonville:
A fire reportedly broke out near Lorainne Farm in Rawsonville this morning after a piece of land was struck by lightning. CWDM said fire crews are currently on-site.
‘Two contracted ground teams, one from NCC and another from Lewish Bush Clearing, are on-site,’ the municipality said.
‘While facing extensive fire lines, there is no imminent threat to structures. Our primary focus remains on containing the spread to safeguard vineyards.’

Matroosberg, Ceres:
Two contracted ground teams have been dispatched to attend to another fire in Matroosberg, which was also sparked by lightning. The team, along with a firefighting vehicle and crew, are currently deployed at the scene.
De Vierde Liefde, Wolseley:
According to CWDM, responding to a veldfire in the mountainous terrain at De Vierde Liefde presented initial challenges due to thick mist obscuring the fire line high up in the mountains.
However, once weather conditions improved, 29 ground team members from CapeNature were deployed to the fire line.
