Cape Town motorists with outstanding fees are warned that as Easter weekend approaches, traffic police are ‘expected to be on high alert’.
As reported by EWN on Monday, 18 March 2024, as long-distance commuters prepare to travel across the country for the annual Easter celebrations, traffic police are doubling down on individuals who have fines that need to be paid off.

This follows after the City of Cape Town stated that it will bring back its traffic fine roadshow in a bid to ‘clear 17,000 outstanding fines and 5,000 warrants’, in a media statement on Sunday, 17 March 2024.
The roadshow will be an opportunity for motorists to ‘clear any outstanding fines or warrants, in a central location’, to avoid the risk of a run-in at a roadblock.
From Monday, 25 March 2024 until Wednesday, 27 March 2024, the roadshow will be available at the Cape Town Civic Centre to help motorists with their outstanding fees.
The roadshow service will include:
- All fine-related enquiries for vehicles registered in their name
- Applying for a reduction on traffic fines issued within the City of Cape Town’s municipal boundaries
- Paying outstanding fines
- Enquiring about warrants and/or summons issued in their name and finalising these
- Removing administration marks against their name on the Natis system
Around R4.6 million was collected over the festive period in December 2023, where ‘over 2 000 clients were assisted’, with 16 923 fines and 5 150 warrants that were finalised.
