Two suspects were apprehended on Saturday near Riebeeck-Kasteel, approximately 80km northeast of Cape Town, following a high-speed chase.

Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi says officials from the Saron police station responded to a business robbery while on routine patrols. They enlisted the assistance of members from the Tulbagh SAPS.
‘While patrolling the provincial R46 road, they located the vehicle, leading to a high-speed pursuit. The chase concluded when police members intercepted and stopped the vehicle near Riebeeck-Kasteel.’

Upon searching the vehicle and its occupants, law enforcement confiscated imitation firearms and various items believed to be stolen property. These included cartons of several branded cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money.
The 29 and 30-year-old suspects now face charges of business robbery following their arrest. They will appear in the Tulbagh Magistrates’ Court once charged.
