The City of Cape Town (CoCT) water rescue network was alerted to reports from CoCt lifeguards who were performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) efforts on a local man on Muizenberg Beach on Sunday afternoon.
It was reported that the man, believed to be in his early 30s, had collapsed and became unresponsive at 5:55pm.
This comes shortly after a 15-year-old teenager passed away on Fish Hoek Beach on that same day.

According to the NSRI, its EOC and Strandfontein station were alerted while SAPS, WC Government EMS, Life Healthcare response medics, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services and CoCT law enforcement responded.
‘On arrival on the scene paramedics assisted the lifeguards with CPR efforts,’ reported NSRI.
‘After extensive CPR efforts were exhausted, sadly, the man was declared deceased.’
The body of the man, from Samora Machel, was taken into the care of Government Health Forensic Pathology Services.
NSRI added that while it is suspected that the man may have passed away from natural causes, an inquest docket for investigation has been opened.
Our sincerest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased man.
